Old Beach Farmers Market & Fall Festival - Saturday, October 9, 2010

The Old Beach Farmers Market joins our neighborhood for a 1 day out of town market, you can find them on most any weekend during season at Croc's 19th Street Bistro. East Beach is chosen for Fall Homearama 2010 - October 16-31

Open to the Public

East Beach has been chosen as the site for Tidewater Builders Association’s Fall 2010 Homearama, October 16-31. The show will feature up to 16 homes along 24th Bay Street south of Pleasant Avenue. This will be the second Homearama in East Beach – the first in 2004 featured the original 16 homes in East Beach along 25th Bay Street, and was the most successful Homearama in TBA’s history.

 “We are extremely proud that East Beach has been selected once again for Homearama,” said Bart Frye, developer for East Beach Company, LLC, “and we’re looking forward to showcasing the neighborhood to the public now that it is home to more than 250 families. The attention to historical architectural detail plus the amenities of the waterfront community set East Beach apart from other neighborhoods in the region.”

Holiday Celebration - 1st or 2nd Saturday in December

Open to the Public

Although the event changes a bit each year as we find the perfect niche, the porch tour is held each December as a holiday celebration.  In 2008 and 2009, many residents hosted events on their porches and in the parks, welcoming their neighbors to join in celebration of the holidays.  Santa visits East Beach for pictures with the kids, and the day is topped off with a neighborhood gathering for a luminary lighting at the Stage.

The Original Rhondels Concert in the Park - Sunday, August 29, 2010

Free & Open to the Public

From Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Original Rhondels are a music tradition who have performed their hit recordings in almost every major city in the United States. In 1969, Bill Deal and the Rhondels began a recording career that would take them to Madison Square Garden and across the country. We love hosting them in a concert in our Stage Pavilion park, its a night to remember.

A three year tradition, this is what you could call a neighborhood beach party in all aspects. Bring a dish and drinks to share and enjoy volleyball, children's activities, and take a ride on a Hobie Cat our on the Bay, all while the sounds of Reggae float through the sir, a great family fun day!

East Beach "Ramble" - Saturday, July 24, 2010

East Beach Resident Event

The first annual East Beach Ramble was held in July 2009.  The Ramble is a themed, progressive party.  Each segment lasts about an hour.  At the end of the hour, a whistle blows, that party shuts down, and the neighborhood travels en-masse on foot, in golf carts, and on bikes, to the next stop.  The themes in 2009 included Baywatch Reunion, Hawaiian Luau, and Tuscany.

Fete de la Musique Music Festival - Sunday, June 20, 2010

Free & Open to the Public

East Beach has partnered with Alliance Francias for the 2nd Annual Fete de la Musique "Festival of Music". This tradition started in Paris and is now celebrated in cities around the world and East Beach is proud to have brought it to Norfolk. On Summer Solstice 18+musicians, in parks throughout the neighborhood, observe and enjoy the tradition of music of all genres and sounds come together for a day. This event is Free and open to the public.

Armed Forces Day with Navy Jazz Ensemble - Saturday, May 15, 2010

Supporting our Armed Forces is a huge part of East Beach and it's residents. We invite all Military family and friends to join us as we say "Thank You" to those that serve our Country, with a Military Band Concert and a BBQ in our Stage Pavilion Park.

2nd Annual East Beach Art, Jazz & Wine Festival

Open to the Public

 East Beach Foundation is pleased to present the 2nd East Beach Art, Jazz & Wine Festival April 24, from 10 am to 6 pm.  The show features over 45 artists who will display and sell original art in the 27th Bay Street Park in East Beach, Norfolk along the Chesapeake Bay. The event is free and open to the public.

Local and regional artists will display pottery, painting, photography, jewelry, hand-blown glass, hand-turned wood, drawing and fine crafts. The East Beach Art Festival also features live jazz music by Stan the Sax Man from 11am to 2 pm and The Joshua Walker 4 piece Jazz band from 2 pm to 6 pm.

A wine and beer tasting is also going to be a part of the festivities. Tickets are $20 per person and include a tasting selection of wine and beer. Other food vendors will have refreshments for sale as well.

The East Beach Art, Jazz & Wine Festival has a rain date of April 25, in case of inclement weather.

East Beach Chesapeake Bay 10k - Saturday, April 10, 2010

House Concerts (held during the winter months, inside our Bay Front Club)

Open to the Public

The East Beach has hosted a number of house concerts at the Bay Front Club, featuring regionally known musicians.   The music in these events is the main attraction, as opposed to being background music for a party.  They are typically held in the winter months, and there is usually a modest fee charged.  Performers to date include Robbin Thompson, Michael Lille, Gove Scrivner, and Matt Miller.

 

Residents of East Beach Create Unique Traditions for the Neighbors

Although East Beach is a young neighborhood, several recurring events have been formed by the Social Committee and found a special place in the hearts of the residents.  Here are a few traditions:

First Fridays

The East Beach Social Committee hosts a party at 6:00 at the Bay Front Club the first Friday of each month, to help the residents mingle and get to know each other.   Live music is normally provided; residents are asked to bring a covered dish and beverages of their choice.

Wine Nights

A resident in the neighborhood hosts a "wine night" on the third Friday of every month (excluding the summer months of June, July and August). A region is chosen and all attendees bring a wine and a dish from that region, an intimate way for the new residents to get involved and get to know their new neighbors.

4th of July Parade

The East Beach Social Committee sponsors this annual event, which grows bigger every year.  Golf carts get decorated, dogs get painted, soldiers get honored, and red white and blue is everywhere.  A “must-do” for all residents.

New Years Eve Party

Dance the night away at the Bay Front Club in your finest cocktail wear with your East Beach friends, then, take the short trip home without getting on the roads.

Labor Day, oyster roasts, Easter Egg hunts and Memorial Day Parties

The social committee organizes fun family oriented events to open up and close out the summer each year.  Events are centered around the Bay Front Club
